Helping families navigate disability with clarity and care

Parent to Parent Queensland (P2P) is a leading not-for-profit organisation that has been supporting Queensland families and people living with disabilities for over 25 years.

Since its inception, P2P has championed the rights, voices and choices of people with disabilities and their families by providing advocacy, resources and peer support networks. Through these networks, P2P helps people participate fully as valued members of their community.

P2P is the Queensland Agency for Inclusion Australia, the national peak body for people with intellectual disabilities. Its mission is simple – to equip people and families with the tools they need to lead fulfilling lives, navigate resources with confidence, and connect meaningfully with others who share similar experiences.

“This industry can be overwhelming for people,” said CEO Jodi Wolthers. “Our role is to help navigate the options available via the NDIS, provide support and peace of mind, and simplify the complex. Our team lives and breathes this work every day.”

P2P guides people through peer support, self-advocacy, skills building, information sharing, referrals and general plan management.

The team is well versed in industry options and connects people with relevant services and support workers – a ‘one-stop shop’ of resources for young people with disability. The organisation also supports parents and carers in early childhood and helps ageing parents of children with disabilities plan for the future.

“No one wants to think about it, but it’s essential to have a support plan for your children,” Jodi said. “We guide parents through this challenging topic, giving them peace of mind that their adult child will have the right support network.”

As strong advocates for disability inclusion, P2P also works closely with local businesses and the broader community.
