Woombye Veterinary Surgery

Where every pet is treated like family

When your pet needs care, trust and compassion matter. At Woombye Veterinary Surgery, the team understands that pets are more than just animals—they’re beloved family members. That’s why they go above and beyond to ensure every visit is as stressfree and comforting as possible for both pets and their people.

Practice Principal Dr Charlotte AshtonHeinius (BVSc) has owned the surgery since 2000 and calls Woombye home. “What sets us apart is that small-town, personalised care,” she said. “We take the time to listen and properly diagnose. Our approach is patient and gentle—whether it’s a routine check-up or something more serious, we want you and your pet to feel at ease.”

Fast results, clearer diagnoses, immediate treatments

The surgery is designed with comfort and efficiency in mind, offering three fully equipped consultation rooms—including one set aside just for cats to minimise stress. In addition to standard check-ups and vaccinations, the clinic offers a wide range of diagnostics such as in-house laboratory testing, digital radiology, and ultrasound. This means faster results, clearer diagnoses, and more immediate treatment options.

Behind the scenes, the surgery features a spacious general treatment area with multiple anaesthetic terminals, along with a modern surgical suite. Oxygen is generated on-site, and all cages are individually heated and fitted with oxygen outlets—essential for post-operative and intensive care. Cats are cared for in a separate, quiet cattery room to ensure a calm and comfortable recovery.

“Our facilities allow us to deliver a high standard of veterinary care right here in the community,” said Charlotte. “We’re fully equipped to handle everything from preventative medicine and dentistry to surgery and emergency care. And we always do it with empathy and thorough communication.”

The practice is also supported by a dedicated team of nurses who are known for their warmth, professionalism and deep love for animals. Many local families have been bringing their pets to Woombye Veterinary Surgery for years—and in some cases, generations.

“We have been taking our animals to Woombye Veterinary Surgery for almost the entire time Charlotte has been at the practice,” said long-time client Peter Scriven.

“The nurses and Charlotte are incredibly welcoming, caring and attentive to our feline and canine friends. Over the years, they’ve been wonderfully compassionate when we’ve had to say goodbye to a beloved pet—offering kindness and unconditional support.”

Independent, locally owned

As an independent, locally owned clinic, Woombye Veterinary Surgery offers continuity of care and a genuine connection with clients that’s hard to find in larger, corporate-owned practices.

Charlotte believes this connection is what builds trust. “When your pet is with us, they become part of our family during their stay,” she said. “And I think the animals— and their owners—feel that. It helps put everyone at ease.”

Whether your pet needs a simple vaccination, nutritional advice, dental work, or urgent medical attention, Woombye Veterinary Surgery is committed to providing comprehensive, compassionate care in a warm, community-based setting.

Come and experience the difference that personalised veterinary care can make.
